Tentang Smartphone dan Blogging

Akhirnya.. Nge-blog lagi. Pengen cerita-cerita aja sih, bukan me-review produk seperti dulu. Bukan karena ngga nyoba produk baru atau pengen nulis, tapi ngga sempat foto dan kesibukan lainnya *hahaha*

Jadi biasanya untuk keperluan foto-foto blog aku kerjakan 1-2x seminggu, seringnya hari Minggu karena ada waktu luang. Kalau hari biasa jarang sempat karena pergi pagi, pulang malam yang berujung ngga sempat foto-foto di bawah pencahayaan yang proper dan alami (baca : sinar matahari) padahal smartphone ku kurang mumpuni untuk dipakai foto dalam kondisi low-light. Sebenarnya aku bukan tipe yang suka gonta-ganti handphone karena malas memindahkan data (iya, seberapa mudah pun itu, tetap rempong imho) tapi berhubung smartphone ku saat ini (Samsung galaxy grand 2) mulai tertatih mengikuti perjalananku berfoto-ria, aku mulai melihat-lihat smartphone keluaran Samsung yang baru. Kenapa harus Samsung? Selain suka dengan performa-nya, after sales service nya juga oke banget! Suatu kali smartphone ku bermasalah setelah di update. Begitu aku bawa ke Samsung Centre, kurang dari 1 jam kemudian sudah beres dan sudah bisa dibawa pulang. Karena kebetulan masa garansi nya sudah habis, aku harus membayar biaya perbaikan yang masih tergolong murah. Yang paling penting sih cepat ya, karena mana tahan kalau harus berpisah lama dengan smartphone? :D

Biasanya untuk menunjang kegilaan ku pada beauty product, setiap hari aku membuka beberapa social media untuk terus memantau mengenai produk terbaru, membaca review sebanyak mungkin, menonton YouTube mengenai produk-produk tersebut, kepo instagram dll. Semua itu kadang membuat smartphone ku terasa 'berat'. Untuk menghindari lag, aku terpaksa menginstall third party app untuk membantu menjaga performa smartphone ku tetap prima. Namun tentunya jauh lebih nyaman jika menggunakan app dari Smartphone itu sendiri dong ya. Dan lebih lebih nyaman lagi jika RAM di smartphone itu sendiri lebih besar untuk menunjang perpindahan antar app yang lebih smooth dan anti lag. 

Untuk menanggung tekanan beban *lebay* yang on terus minimal 17 jam sehari (iya, waktu tidur ku memang minim sekali...) pastinya baterai akan terkuras dengan cepat. FYI aku biasanya men-charge handphone 1-2 kali sehari dengan frekuensi yang lama saking dipakai terus *___*.. Pengen deh smartphone dengan kapasitas baterai yang lebih mumpuni. 

Berdasarkan pertimangan tersebut diatas, ditunjang dengan dompet yang terbatas, akhirnya pilihan ku mengerucut menjadi Samsung J5 dan J7 (2016). Mari kita lihat alasannya..

Pertama, tentunya adalah kapasitas kamera yang lebih baik. Keduanya telah di dukung dengan kamera depan CMOS 5.0 MP dan kamera belakang CMOS 13 MP. Sungguh ini adalah peningkatan dibanding kamera sebelumnya. Kamera keduanya juga masih didukung fitur Beauty Mode andalan Samsung dengan tambahan berupa palm selfie (karena selfie stick itu ribet.. sungguh), flash di kamera depan untuk menunjang selfie kapan saja dimana saja, dan wide selfie supaya ngga ada yg terlewat hehe..

Kedua, tentu saja kapasitas RAM yang lebih besar yaitu 2 GB dan support micro SD external sampai 128 GB saja donngg.. Ini sih bakal puas banget namanya.

Belum lagi ada fitur Smart Manager yang sangat aku tunggu-tunggu! Biasanya aku memakai third party app untuk mengatur RAM, storage dan security di smartphone ku. Sekarang praktis banget dong karena sudah disediakan oleh Samsung ;)

Ketiga, daya tahan baterai yang oke abis. Samsung J5 (2016) sudah dilengkapi dengan baterai berkapasitas 3100 mAh sementara Samsung J7 (2016) dilengkapi dengan baterai berkapasitas 3300 mAh. Ini cocok banget untuk manusia yang ngga bisa bertahan tanpa handphone (iya, yours truly). Sekarang sih aku men-charge handphone 1-2x sehari karena emang nyala hampir 18 jam sehari (tidur mana tidur), semoga smartphone ini bertahan lebih lama ya. Apalagi kan ada fitur ultra saving mode yang menutup aplikasi yang tidak dibutuhkan sehingga smartphone siap dipakai kapan saja apalagi saat dibutuhkan.

Keempat, kedua smartphone ini sudah mendukung jaringan 4G yang artinya internet lebih kencang dan lebih murah! Asik banget kan, lebih mudah update socmed, posting blog, cari info dst dengan jaringan yang lebih oke! 

Kelima, ukuran layarnya yang sudah pas banget untuk aku yang jujur saja, kurang suka smartphone berlayar kecil. Kurang puas. Pokoke layar 5" keatas adalah pilihanku. Samsung J5 dan J7 (2016) sudah dilengkapi dengan layar super amoled dengan kedalaman 16M. Keduanya mendukung warna yang lebih tajam dan jelas jadi ngga pakai acara keliru warna saat memilih foundation online. Kenapa membeli foundation online? Mudah saja, kalau membeli online akan lebih praktis dan mendapat akses ke beauty product terbaru yang belum tersedia di offline shop.

Keenam, tampilan kedua smartphone ini luar biasa cantiknya. Bingkai nya pun sudah berupa logam sehingga tidak mudah terkelupas dan tergores. Cihuy dah *menatap bingkai smartphone yang baret*

Dan jika keenam alasan tersebut diatas masih dirasa kurang, masih ada alasan ketujuh yang membuat aku memilih J5 atau J7 (2016) yaitu.. Harganya! Dengan dompet terbatas dan kemuan yang tak berbatas, aku merasa harus cerdas dalam memilih produk untuk aku pakai dalam jangka waktu lama. Harus memuaskan dan harus come in good price. Buatku keduanya masih ada dalam range yang masuk akal dengan segala kelebihan dan kekurangannya.

Coloring Books that I Want

I'm really into coloring these days. 

I currently working on Inspiration Bollywood (very intricate, the lines are mostly thin and leave few room for blending and demanding for sharp pencil. Take it if you love mandalas and Bollywood inspired things) and Forbidden Forest which i think only available in Indonesia. It's some sort of mixing between Johanna Basford's Enchanted Forest and Secret Garden, and Jerome Meyer's Around the World, and another Indonesian coloring book titled Bunga (flower).

Even i was just finished less than 10 pages from each book *i know!*, i've been craving for more.. So ridiculous!

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

I am not really into classic story, but i managed to read pride and prejudice once. Doesn't like the story much, but when someone translated it into coloring book.. I'm impressed!

There's some other coloring book based on classical story, and i wish for more in future!

Johanna Basford's Magical Jungle and Christmas Book

Technically, it's two title but should be just fine, coming from the same author.

Both haven't even released but been filled my mouth with water when i saw the preview..

Animal Kingdom by Millie Marotta

It's one of the must have, i think, along with the classical Secret Garden by Basford.

Joyous Blooms to Color by Eleri Fowler

Not a must have, but i like to see cheery cover and after peeking the inside, it's seems good.

Underwater Treasure by Famiya & Hayata

It's another compilation book, just like my Forbidden Forest (also by Famiya & Hayata).

I've been take a look inside it and i think it meet my need to ocean coloring.

To justify my 'need', of course i need to do more more more coloring with the books i have. Wish me luck!

Selina Cookies and Cream Body Souffle

I really like this one.

Weeks ago, i've been posted about another body souffle (blueberry cheese cake, click here for the actual post) and today is for the Cookies and Cream one. When Selina contacted me and said this one has mint inside, i'm hooked. I don't know about you, but mint's tingling sensation on skin always makes me fall in love. With the cookies and cream body souffle, i even applied on my foot before sleep and whenever i feel tired. My feet feel soft and relax almost immediately.

Now into actual product..

The tub appearance is very similar to Blueberry and Cheesecake one.

It's made from plastic with screwed lid on top, very much like an ice cream.

Color wise, green doesn't match with Cookies and Cream image in my head, but it does represent the mint ingredient inside.

Inside, the softness of body souffle is shown as soon as you open the lid.

Like other, it has black dots inside (i think so it looks even more like ice cream) which disappear after blending.

Cream inside, as you've seen, is green like the tub.

As i said above, this one is amazing and i like it much better than Blueberry one.

The scent is softer and much manageable by my nose, with the same softness it brings but even better with minty sensation i love.

I'm into this.

Selina Blueberry Cheese Cake Body Souffle

I am very thankful when slightly more than a month ago, i got a package of these wonderful body souffle. Inside my package, there's two almost look like an ice cream box stuff :

top : blueberry cheese cake body souffle
bottom : cookies and cream body souffle

And when opened, the purple box looks like this :

Being a fan of body moisturizer i am, i do a quick swatch :

soft, light cream with a hint of purple

there's black dots that would disappear after some spreading

This body souffle is much lighter and easier to spread than body butter, and just slightly denser than usual body lotion. Much to my surprise, it does makes my skin softer and moist without being heavy. I tried it on my super dry skin area and it does doing a great job.

Fragrance wise, it's very sweet. The scent last for 4-5 hours on me. Sometimes i have to apply it carefully to prevent myself from being overly sweet.

No wonder it does amazing job, shea butter inside! And the fragrance is strong because it's on top of list. I'm amazed with new product range : body souffle and new fragrance based on yummy dessert in indonesian market. However i wish they'd make a softer fragrance range for those who enjoy subtle fragrance.

Jerawat : Pencet atau Ngga?

Dilema seperti ini kayaknya sudah biasa untuk orang dengan kulit jerawatan (acne prone). Banyak yang bilang 'jangan pencet!' tapi ada juga yang kekeuh harusnya dipencet saja. Kamu gimana?

Menurut Paula Begoun (link), memencet jerawat berguna untuk mengurangi peradangan, luka, dan mempercepat masa penyembuhan selain menghilangkan jerawat itu sendiri dari muka kita, jika dilakukan dengan benar. 

Cara memencet yang yang benar adalah :

jangan memencet terlalu keras

tidak boleh mencungkil

tidak boleh ditusuk

.. dan apapun yang bisa menyebabkan keropeng.

Jerawat yang boleh dipencet adalah jerawat white head (ada bagian lemak putih/'isi' nya), bukan jerawat batu *gimana juga jerawat batu dipencet yah*

Kemudian, lakukan langkah berikut :

• Beli alat pembersih komedo (tangkai kecil dengan lubang di masing-masing ujungnya)

• Bersihkan wajah dengan pembersih wajah yang lembut. Jangan gunakan air panas atau dingin karena akan memperparah jerawat dan menyulitkan proses penyembuhannya.
• Saat membersihkan, gunakan lap wajah (washcloth) yang lembut. Ini berguna untuk menghilangkan sel kulit mati dan mempermudah proses selanjutnya. Jangan menggosok terlalu keras.
• Keringkan wajahmu. Tidak boleh memencet jerawat saat kulit sedang basah karena beresiko melukai kulit dan menyebabkan keropeng.
• Setelah kulit kering, gunakan pembersih komedo untuk memencet jerawat. Dengan sangat lembut dan sangat-sangat sedikit tekanan, tekan pembersih komedo ke jerawat. Ini seharusnya bisa mengeluarkan 'isi' jerawat.
• Proses ini bisa diulang 1-2 kali lagi, tapi jangan lebih karena akan meninggalkan bekas keropeng.

Ingat, tujuan paling utama adalah jangan sampai meninggalkan bekas!

Lakukan dengan sangat-sangat lembut.

Setelahnya, gunakan 2.5% - 5% benzoyl peroxide atau 1% - 2% salicylic acid (BHA).

Ini tidak akan membantu mempercepat proses peradangan tapi untuk menghilangkan bakteri dan mencegah jerawat datang kembali.

Jadi, kamu pencet jerawat ngga?

Simple DIY Mosquito Repellent

Hallow! I noticed my post about Body Oil got somewhat good intention, so i will continue sharing my little knowledge.

In Indonesia, we now in-between season. It's supposed to be rainy but for some reason, it's still hot as hell. At this point, brought by the rain, mosquito number is raising up. I'm a tropical person, but i don't think i would ever be used to mosquito. And how about those who coming for holiday purpose?

I think the best solution is using repellent on skin. I don't trust stickers, i can't stand smoky thing (even thus keep the mosquito away), but i hate industrial made repellent. They made my skin feel weird, i don't feel comfortable using my hand hours afterwards, and somewhat raising my allergic reaction.

So what to do?

I made this very simple mosquito repellent. I've tried it for more or less 2 months and it's works. They best things are it's natural, effective, very cheap and easy to made.

Back about to body oil things, i use simple Grape Seed Cooking Oil (but you can go fancier if you want) mixed with Geranium Essential Oil (2-3%, can be more but it's effective enough) I use it every morning and rarely re-applied until evening.

They're easy to find here in Bali. Or you can make a balm version of it home and bring it on holiday. This is modification from an online recipe i found, and it would be thicker but you'd need just a little. Rub between your hand before applying to wet skin (same case applied to body oil).

Balm Recipe (made 25-30g product) :

15 g shea butter

7.5 g carrier oil (use what your skin need/what you have)

3.5 g beeswax / floral wax

up to 10 drops of Geranium / Lavender Essential Oil

[1] Using double boiler, heat shea butter, carrier oil and beeswax. Stir as it melts. Make sure all the solid parts melted before removing from heat.

[2] Once everything is melted, allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes.

[3] Stir in essential oils and pour the liquid to small glass container. Allow it to harden completely. Usually it takes several hours.

Industrial made repellent are not so attractive to me, but their advertising made me learn how Mosquito hate Lavender, Geranium and Orange's skin scent. I don't like the later option either, so i never tried it.

Make sure your essential oil is pure to be effective. Fragrance oil works much worse than the pure one. They're weaker and last shorter.

First, let me wish all of you a happy year ahead. I know last year I haven’t post too often. As per 2016, I put lesser pressure here and only post what I want and whenever I want to..

Like today, I wanna share about this lip balm from The Body Shop. While the brand is largely available worldwide, Hemp line doesn’t, due to it’s restriction in some countries. Too bad, I can't easily snap it in nearly store. However, I managed to get it. It is highly raved for it's effectiveness.

Hemp oil has great moisturizing properties, so does the products. My lips are easily chapped, and last year’ liquid lip trend just made it worse (okay, some of them are not, but I'm being careful). Hemp Lip Conditioner is like a heroine for it.

Simply said, it is what I dreamed for. Many lip balms are great, and you know I loved burt bees one (reviewed HERE), but this one is even better. At least for me.

Hemp lip conditioner is scentless, matte and leave no trace of color. With the packaging like this, it’s fit for both male and female user.

I barely ever leaving home without this little one.

Cute Korean Cushion!

I'm back with new cuteness report.

As you might know already, Korean has cutest and most attractive make up mass. In the last few months, some Korean brand has collaborated with world famous character for limited edition product. My attention draw the most to cushions.

You might already know and have these cushions yourself, but for those who doesn't and haven't heard about it, cushion is new base product in compact. Most of them are bb cream (and the complex variant), some are blush and others are highlighters. The idea is to use the product easier using cushion puff, no messy finger nor brush needed. With compact, user doesn't need separated mirror either. Convenient.

Back before, yes Etude has collaborated with Minnie mouse too for their Cushion, and yes they're cute too. But it was long before other brands followed their idea.

First one that i noticed was Garfield. It might not drawing very much attention, but still.. Apieu doing a cute job here. Their cushion said to be great, for both oily and dry skin type. No wonder they got great success, and the price is kinda low too.

.. But still, they continue the success with Doraemon edition. Another cat, yes! Doraemon was my first character-love back in my childhood. I think most from my generations are. This future cat is loving and has futuristic product we can't even dream of.

Tentang JK Rowling dan Karir Sang Iblis

Sebagai penikmat buku Harry Potter, tentunya aku mengikuti novel JK Rowling selanjutnya. Mulai dari buku "pendamping" serial Harry Potter (Quidditch dari Masa ke Masa, Hewan-Hewan Fantastic dan dimana mereka bisa ditemukan dll) juga Casual Vacancy. I love Casual Vacancy! Dengan tokoh sebanyak itu, semuanya memiliki ciri khas masing-masing yang jelas, seperti juga tokoh-tokoh di dalam serial Harry Potter yang semuanya berkarakter. Walaupun Casual Vacancy *oke* terus terang saja sulit dilihat poin ceritanya, tapi entah kenapa membawa daya tarik tersendiri.

Jujur ketika pertama tau bahwa JK Rowling menulis serial detektif dengan nama lain, aku underestimate banget. Ngga tertarik pokoknya! Cuckoo's Calling lewat begitu saja, sampai Silkworm pun baru aku baca awal 2015 ini gara-gara kehebohannya dan kebetulan gramedia sale 30% off.

Trus pendapatku gimana? Cuckoo's Calling bagus, tapi ngga gimana banget. Silkworm awal dan pertengahan biasa saja, tapi endingnya aku sukaaaa! Mana lanjutannya? Mana???

Akhirnya setelah penantian yang singkat (soalnya baca Silkworm nya telat banget) muncullah Career of Evil (aku translate seenaknya sebagai Karir Sang Iblis, entah nanti judul bahasa indonesia nya apa). Tapi belum ada versi Indonesianya *iyalah*. Jadi gimana? Nekat aja baca versi aslinya? Dengan bahasa inggris seadanya, biasanya aku cuma baca novel young-adult yang ngga pake istilah aneh-aneh tapi aku sukaa~ Lah ini novel detektif ntar sok baca tapi ngga ngerti gimana? #parno #lebay

Untungnya ngga dong. Apalagi kalau sudah baca seri sebelumnya, udah ngerti lah gaya bahasanya. Tapi disini aku tetep berhati-hati membaca tiap kalimat, literally sentence-by-sentence, karena ngga mau kelewatan apapun. Nama pun novel detektif ya, bikin penasaran ikutan nebak pelakunya hehe..

Alur ceritanya memakai alur maju yang ditulis dengan sangat menarik. Pokoknya pengen cepet-cepet lanjut dan lanjuuuut!

Di tengah-tengah buku, aku sempat main ke instagram book lovers yang memakai hashtag #CareerOfEvil. Salah satunya bilang "hope you enjoy the climax". Wow! Ada apakah di klimaks cerita? Apakah aku langsung kebut baca bukunya? Ngga. Malah makin takut kelewat sesuatu. Makin pelan dan lamaaa.. Aku baru selesai membaca novel ini di hari ke-10. Sangat lama untuk standar ku yang biasanya pengen buru-buru selesai baca.

Jadi bagaimana kah klimaks buku ini?

Untuk jalan cerita yang sangat menarik, jujur menurutku klimaksnya kurang "nendang". Kok ya cuma begitu. Ngga mendebarkan seperti awal dan pertengahan buku. Pelaku nya pun sebenarnya bisa siapa saja. Semua suspect memiliki kesempatan dan motif, walaupun salah satu nya tereliminasi dengan clue di tengah buku. Sebagai pembaca aku cukup kecewa.. Cuma begitu saja, tidak ada "AHA moment" yang bikin aku merasa "ooooh begitu!"

Ngga ada motif khusus seperti dalam Silkworm, ngga ada alasan khusus. Sepertinya dia pelakunya hanya karena dia (kebetulan) pelakunya. Dua lainnya juga bisa kok, mereka punya kemampuan dan alasan yang kuat.

Dalam buku ini, untungnya banyak poin menarik yang dibahas. Misalnya masa lalu Robin, masa lalu Strike dari sisi ibunya dan teman masa kecil Strike yang terbukti sangat berguna (tapi kenapa belum pernah muncul sebelumnya?).

Dengan banyaknya tokoh, seperti dalam serial Harry Potter dan Casual Vacancy, beberapa tokoh yang aku harap muncul kembali ternyata tidak muncul. Misalnya adik Strike dari sisi ayahnya yang menikmati membantu Strike dalam akhir Silkworm, entah kenapa tidak muncul sama sekali di novel ini. Padahal kasus kali ini sangat menarik perhatian media jadi sulit terlewatkan.

Di buku ini, Roberth Galbraith aka JK Rowling juga menulis dari sudut pandang Si Iblis. POV ini belum pernah ada di buku sebelumnya dan cukup membuat bulu kuduk berdiri karena pikiran-pikiran jahatnya. Namanya juga iblis ya :p

Di akhir buku, tetep ya, Roberth menyisipkan detil kecil yang membuat pembaca (AKU) penasaran dengan buku selanjutnya. Semoga ngga lama deh.

Utama Spice Lavender Body Oil

Following my previous post about Body Oil, here’s my review for Utama Spice Lavender Body Oil.

Being in Indonesia, specially in Bali, Utama Spice’s products are easy to get. Not only their own store, Guardian and Century Pharmacy also has a handful of Utama Spice’s product. Their Body Oils are retailed for around IDR 101,000 but with member card, you can get it somewhat cheaper.

Utama Spice’s Body Oil packaged nicely in purple glass bottle, securing product inside from light. But actually for Body Oil, plastic bottle is fine enough.

The product supposed to be pouring from this normal size hole, but mine is hardly come out. I’ve tried to cut the bottom part of those plastic but nothing changed. Oh well. I want the body shop’s plastic bottle please! Nope, I don’t really want comparing but this problem aching my heart. As per now on, I depotted the Lavender Body Oil to my old Body Shop plastic bottle. Solved!

Product inside is simply made of Soja (Soy) Oil, Coconut Oil and Lavender Essential Oil. After doing further research about body oil, I was a little bit regretting my purchase because Coconut Oil (organic, not food grade) and Soja Oil are cheap and easy to find I could made it myself. However, the Lavender smells good and relaxing. A friend of mine complement saying that she thought I was just back from spa ritual because I smell so great.

It might unable to seen on pict, but the texture is a bit thick. It supposed to be, because even Soja Oil is light and easy to absorb, Coconut oil doing a bigger impact and thickened it. However, with some mix with water during application, it’s still easy to spread and absorb.

I use it on my body and hair. Body oil for obvious reason, and because as far as I know, coconut oil is widely used for hair oil (please read further for each ingredient below). But please just use a little amount of this for your hair. The thick texture would make hair looks greasy, so less is enough.

Soja Oil benefit :

• High in natural source lecithin, sterolin and vitamin E
• Feel light on skin
• Easy to absorb
• Leave skin smooth
• Odorless
• Low cost

Coconut Oil benefit :

1. Help skin to naturally control it’s oil secretions
2. Applying coconut oil right after shower help skins quickly restore pH level to 5.5 without blocking pores
3. Contains of vitamin A, B, E and phosphorus, calcium, iron, manganese and magnesium
4. Rich source of omega 3, 6, 9 and polyphenols.
5. Great for skin disorders (acne, psoriasis and eczema)
6. Prevent hair loss
7. Help to reduce protein loss in hair
8. Cooling effect when applied on head and scalp
9. High in moisture retaining
10. Great as hair conditioner

Lavender Essential oil (lavendula angustifolia) benefit :

• Bug repellent
• Relaxing
• Calming scent helps with nervous system
• Acne (can be use directly to the spot, undiluted)
• Pain relief (including sore and tense muscle, muscular aches, rheumatism, sprains, backaches and lumbago)
• Has stimulating effects for urine production
• Helps with respiratory disorders
• Hair loss treatment
• Improving blood circulation
• Stimulates the production of gastric juice and bile, thus aiding in treatment of indigestion, stomach pain, colic, flatulence, vomiting and diarrhea
• Regular use of lavender essential oil provides resistance to variety of diseases.
• Antibacterial, Antiseptic and Antifungal properties

Body oil is easy to make, no other chemical needed. Just mix carrier oil of your favorite with several drops of essential oil of your need in a bottle and shake! Super easy and very economic. It’s doesn’t even needed to use organic carrier oil here, but it’s purely your preference.

Actually, after re-reading my own draft, I want to apply another layer of body oil! It really has great benefit on skin. At least when I skip applying this for a day or two, my skin is just fine. Means it really doing a good job moisturizing my skin that some forgetfulness are forgiven.

Will I repurchase in future? Maybe if price reduced, and the bottle changed.. I would consider to.
