The Body Shop Hemp Lip Conditioner

Welcome,
Welcome.

First, let me wish all of you a happy year ahead. I know last year I haven’t post too often. As per 2016, I put lesser pressure here and only post what I want and whenever I want to..

Like today, I wanna share about this lip balm from The Body Shop. While the brand is largely available worldwide, Hemp line doesn’t, due to it’s restriction in some countries. Too bad, I can't easily snap it in nearly store. However, I managed to get it. It is highly raved for it's effectiveness.

HEMP Lip Conditioner

HEMP Lip Conditioner

HEMP Lip Conditioner

Hemp oil has great moisturizing properties, so does the products. My lips are easily chapped, and last year’ liquid lip trend just made it worse (okay, some of them are not, but I'm being careful). Hemp Lip Conditioner is like a heroine for it.

Simply said, it is what I dreamed for. Many lip balms are great, and you know I loved burt bees one (reviewed HERE), but this one is even better. At least for me.

Hemp lip conditioner is scentless, matte and leave no trace of color. With the packaging like this, it’s fit for both male and female user.

I barely ever leaving home without this little one.

Short Review about The Body Shop Absinthe Purifying Hand Cream

Do you use hand cream?

Well, with so many cute hand cream out there, i usually prefer something cute too (read my review about Etude Honey Bee Hand Cream here, still keeping the cute cute packaging til now). Unfortunately, it doesn't do much job for my hand so i keep searching. Long story short, out of f00l, i bought this Absinthe Hand Cream because i think it's the popular HEMP Hand Cream. I know. So sad it doesn't available in Indonesia, and i think it would never be -___-"

sorry, i've been used it for months

The packaging is like water color, so after some use it would messed up. Not pretty but it does saving space. And i think it does something for product safety too.

Absinthe hand cream is supposed to moisturized your hand while keeping it feeling fresh. Last part is mostly because of it's fresh scent, which i like. Fragrance is in third on ingredient list though.

i know, the picture is not super-clear but i give up trying because it's soo messy and hard to catch.

However, here's for you from The Body Shop website :

Aqua/Water (Solvent/Diluent), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate (Emollient), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Glycerin (Humectant), Betaine (Hair Conditioning Agent), Polysorbate 60 (Surfactant), Glyceryl Stearate (Emulsifier), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (Stabiliser/Viscosity Modifier), Benzyl Alcohol (Preservative), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Butyrospermum Parkii/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), PEG-100 Stearate (Surfactant), Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil (Emollient), Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil (Skin Conditioning Agent), Menthyl PCA (Humectant), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Disodium EDTA (Chelating Agent), Sodium Hydroxide (pH Adjuster), Butylene Glycol (Humectant), Menthol (Fragrance/Cooling Agent), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Artemisia Absinthium Extract (Skin Conditioning Agent), Dipropylene Glycol (Humectant), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), CI 19140/Yellow 5 (Colour), CI 42090/Blue 1 (Colour).

By purchasing Body Shop's product, i know i'm not paying for super great ingredient. So that's okay.
Spot that it has shea butter, some seed oul and Menthol. And lot fragrance(s). Okaaay. I just wish it be more like Hemp version : more seed oil and less fragrance.

actual product

The product is a tad greenish. It's thin cream textured and quite fast to absorb. Like any other hand cream, it does makes your hand feel much smoother right after use but not for long. It's still lay on your hand after one or two light hand wash (without much soap).

I definately need another hand cream after finishing this babe (can't wait for that day haha). It's not my special one, and i wouldn't repurchase.
However, if your hand is not as dry as mine, Absinthe Purifying hand cream might be work for you. Make sure you try their sample before deciding (i tried, but i really want to buy something so bad that day so yeah~).

Well thats my short review and much babbling, hope that helps! ^___^
and to the body shop indo, i still wishing for that hemp hand cream..

Review : The Body Shop Olive Beautifying Oil

What type of body moisturizer do you like recently?

I used to be a Body Butter enthusiast, and even I know about body oil for so long, I haven’t tried one because I think it’s greasy. Lately, using my birthday discount (it’s 10% if you’re not Love Your Body Fan member, and 20% off if you’re LYB Fan Member) I bought their Beautifying Oil out of curiosity. I’ve just using it since last January, after having it about almost a year.

What is Beautifying Oil?
According to the Body Shop, it’s made with lightweight blend of nut oils and Marula Oil to give instant hydration and shimmering finish. It can be use on Body, Hair and Face.

How to Use.
Well.. I am writing based on my experience, because I can’t find specific information about how to use in bottle and website.
It’s not mean to use anytime, it have to be apply over wet skin. Best to use after shower, or at least put some oil on your skin before hand.
It’s still wouldn’t sink fast, wait and see. I haven’t have no dry skin spot all over my body for years, with their body butter and lotion. Even the one specifically purposed for dry skin.

Okay, I love it so so much, even with the not so practical application. Then I found that its now $14 or about IDR 169,000 here. Okay theres sale etc etc but yeah, it’s expensive.

ingredient list (click for bigger pic)

Mine is “Olive” because I think it’s one subtle scent of theirs. The scent is like their other olive product and I think I like it.

The bottle is all plastic, with flip cap.
Personally i think it does good enough to carry around (if needed) but some say it's not safe enough. Maybe it's good but you still need to be careful.

olive beautifying oil

Olive Beautifying Oil is medium thick oil. It feels greasy and wont sink if you’re apply over dry skin. Remember to wash or at least water your skin first. Wait some moment until it's sink completely and you'd forgot you have something on if you're can't spot its scent.

I’ve said that it works wonder on my body, and lovely on my hair too (just remember not to apply too much) but I refuse to use the same hair and body oil on my face. No. Especially since parfum/fragrance listed as third ingredient. Oh, No.
I love olive’s scent and though it doesn’t said out loud, I feel fresh after applying it. I haven’t experienced before with another body oil of mine (will review after I use it much enough) and I love the sensation.

Summary?
Okay, here you go.

PROs :

  • Available locally (it’s body shop! I think they’re everywhere)
  • Works wonder on my body and hair
  • Fresh feeling
  • Smell lovely (for me)
  • Contains anti oxidant

Cons :

  • Not to practical application (but after some while, you're skin is great and no need to apply it anytime)
  • Expensive
  • Have fragrance on third ingredient list
  • Sometimes it's greasy if youre not careful

I'd love to say i'd repurchase but i think i wanna try their Wild Argan Radiant Oil first ^____^

The Body Shop Body Polish : Cranberry Joy, Vanilla Bliss and Ginger Sparkle

Well, during The Body Shop sale all over the year, i've succesfully collecting their Christmas' Limited Edition Body Polish and mini body butter. You know how i love their body polish, especially strawberry one. But you might also know, they're not cheap. I feel so lucky finding these limited edition with fraction of price!

The first one i bought, cranberry joy, is on "buy one get 50% off on second product". The other two was on discounted price at about IDR 89,000 each! And all of them expired at 2016. No question, i did stocked them.

Here's some of my collection :
woo hoo, 2 of eah body polish and 1 of each mini body butter
But today, i would only review the body polishes. They haven't back in store yet, but suppose to be soon. I think it's better to review them in one post since i don't have much more to say beside their diffences one to another :)

Ginger Sparkle, Vanilla Bliss and Cranberry Joy
My reason to splurge on their Body Polish is because it's easiness to use, effectiveness, lovely scent and even it's not cheap, i found that i need barely 5 months to finish 1 full size tube. I use it once a day. So yes, i will continue using this.

If you're the curious-about-ingredient type of person, here's the ingredient list for you. Click to get bigger image.

cranberry joy

vanilla bliss

ginger sparkle
All of them basically has the same main ingredient. The difference are in fragrance, the seeds and oil. Cranberry Joy has cranberry seed, kiwi seed and cranberry fruit extract. Vanilla Bliss has kiwi seed, vanilla fruit extract and something that makes it more moisturizing. Ginger Sparkle has ginger root powder, luffa cylindrica and ginger root oil and soybean oil. Ginger sparkle is the only one who doesn't has seed.

All of them will leave you with low to no dry skin because of honey in ingredient. But still, on some days you need extra moisturizer after polishing.

The difference shown in picture below :

LOVE THEM ALL!!!
CRANBERRY JOY
Being the first one i've tried after Strawberry Body Polish (reviewed here), it's feels disappointing at first. In my opinion, cranberry smell is far less pleasant than strawberry. And the effectiveness is lower too. After several usage, i get the point and start loving it too. Even of course, i still like strawberry's scent better.
The consistency is very much alike strawberry one, gel with seeds and walnut shell powder. Very convenient and lovely to use.
My Rating : 3.8/5

VANILLA BLISS
As far as i know, it's the only creamy body polish from Body Shop. The consistency is creamy with seeds and walnut shell powder too. I think this one is the best to use in dry weather, because even after shower, i can still feel the moisturizing effect.
Talking about scent, you might know that i love vanilla (see the blog title, LOL) and this one has medium-sweet vanilla that is subtle, but sometimes i can smell it even an hour after shower (without vanilla bliss body butter).
My Rating : 4.5/5 in normal-hot days and 5/5 in cold days

GINGER SPARKLE
I think i would never ever love this, but obviously, it's another pleasure. The scent is warm, gingerly scent which made me think about being in warm kitchen with gingerbread in jar while cold outside.
The texture is gel, with no seed but ginger root powder and walnut shell powder. But don't think it's not effective, it's really good to clean your dead skin!
My Rating : 4/5

Well, i think i've touch every aspect here, but if you still have something to ask, don't ever hesitate to leave a comment! ^^~

Thanks for Reading, hope you enjoy it :)

My Experience with The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil

*purchased by me*
*non sponsored review*

I think you've already know how much i love Body Shop lately (read my review here, here, here and more in future) but in fact, this is the first one that hook me in.. Beside the body polish, of course ^___^

I am on fight with acne since last December (another story can be found here) and i purchased this baby in late February. Truthfully, i was clueless about how to use essential oil as skincare. Thanks to the Beauty Assistant how does help me there.

The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil
10ml / 0.33 US fl.oz
idr. 119,000
contains of 15% Tea Tree Oil
(as long as i know, previous version contains of 10% Tea Tree Oil)

The bottle is made from thick green glass while the closure is from plastic.

direction of use :
use directly to acne spot skin
drop to warm water as aromatherapy, facial steam and even foot spa

..and it can be mix with your favorite BB Cream, CC cream or foundation to make it bearable for acne prone skin (tried it several times : most of the time it does works)

The bottle is very save. It's even almost impossible to open it with one hand. You need to use both of your hand, one to hold the bottle and the others to push and screw the closure to open it.

There's some information i'd like to bold about it :
[1] even it's an oil, the texture actually feels more like water
[2] it's not a pure essential oil
[3] it does contains of alcohol

The Ingredient List :
Water, Alcohol Denat., PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Polysorbate 20, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Limonene, t-Butyl Alcohol, Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil, Citral, Leptospermum Petersonii (Lemon Tea Tree) Oil, Denatonium Benzoate, Tocopherol.

FYI, this one is my THIRD bottle so i think i really know about it, and how it works on my skin.

At first, it works like wonders. After 3 days of use, i can see how it improve my skin condition. My acnes reduced and my skin feels great because of the cooling sensation. I'm really happy, so i think maybe pure Tea Tree Oil will works even better.

Before the first bottle completely empty, i moved to another brand of pure tea tree oil. No alcohol at all. As i predicted, it works better. In the other hand, my Tea Tree Oil from Body Shop start to makes me disapointed.
I think it's because the one is pure, while the other one loads another ingredient that low it down. That time, i thought the lower the better because i read it somewhere on internet that pure tea tree oil is not supposed to use directly to your skin.

After the pure tea tree oil finished, i am back to The Body Shop one.
I use it religiously every night, morning, afternoon, evening.. Anytime.
It won't work as wonder as the first time i used it. And i start to noticed that my skin oftenly turning red and itchy.
To make it worse, everytime i feel itch, i add more tea tree oil to that area because it cool it down.

I am not supposed to do that.

Because it does contains alcohol (second in ingredient list) and therefore, makes my skin getting worse).

My favorite website to help in analyzing ingredients is COSDNA.com
And here what it said for The body shop Tea Tree Oil (read it here):
  1. Alcohol denat is level 5 in irritant
  2. Tocopherol is level 2 in both irritant and acne trigger ingredient (but since it's the last ingredient, maybe the number is not significant)
  3. There are two pure fragrance in list (Citral, Leptospermum Petersonii (Lemon Tea Tree) Oil) which are not irritant nor acne trigger but i found it disturbing
  4.  Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil beside work as anti oxidant and a plant extract, also as sunscreen. And i definately won't use sunscreen anytime. Not at night.

My biggest concern is how could a product that supposed to be use as Acne repellent contains of a level 5 irritant ingredients?
But my skin does loved it at the start.

Well, i've moved on again.

Follow on Bloglovin

ps. maybe it just me? or does it also happens to you?
because i hope it really works. I love tea tree, and my skin does too.
oh and i love Body Shop :)

The Honeymania EDT

*Purchased by ME, non sponsored review*

The Body Shop Honeymania EDT
30ml (1.0 US FL OZ)
idr. 189,000
Limited Edition
Core Collection from Body Shop <3 font="">

If you're familiar with EDT from The Body Shop, it's exactly in the same size.
The glass bottle slightly tinted with golden honey shade and the sprayer tinted gold.

I am a fan of honey scented product and i was waiting so long since i found out that Honeymania range launched in UK. I know many people has said that it doesn't smell like honey at all but i can't stop my self from purchasing it.

According to Fragrantica, it's only has 2 notes : wildflower and honey.
The scent is very floral, less honey and not really sweet.

In my opinion, the floral notes blends so well with honey, creating a very fresh and *ehm* mature scent. If you have Marc Jacob's Honey, it's really different compared to it. Honey from Marc Jacobs is way too fruity.. Doesn't really gives me the Honey-ed feeling like The Body Shop does, even it's floraly.

Sadly, it doesn't last long on me.. I just got about 2-3 hours. Well in my opinion, most fragrance from the Body Shop doesn't last long, but Honeymania last shorter.
But don't worry, once you paired it with body butter from the same range, it definately got better.

However, i like it and planned to stock up since it's a limited edition and the body shop has special discount for exchange 20 point from your Love Your Body member card.

Go get now but make sure to leave me some :))

The Body Shop Honeymania Body Butter

*purchased by me*

After trying and loving The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish (reviewed here), i feel like i really-really in love with TBS. Maybe because their price being more reasonable for me, or maybe because they're so easy to find or maybe because they gave us special price oftenly..

Well, no matter what, i've been eyeing Honeymania series since it's been launched in UK. After i read some reviews, i decided to get the body butter & EDT (will review later).

Well, do you remember my Honey Bee hand cream? It's from Etude, and i think it's match the theme :))

This body butter came in 200ml pot, i wouldn't say it's handy but definately reasonable for the price.

TBS always do fair trade for their product. In this case, it's with Wildflower Community in Ethiopia for their Honey.
As usual they doesn't do animal testing.

TBS retailed it for idr. 229,000 but when i get it, there's 15% off if you purchase 2 items from Honeymania range. If there's no promotion, the price will be idr. 1,145,000/liter. Expensive eh?
Compared to older collection, Honeymania Body Butter is rather expensive. The olders came in 250ml size, 50ml more than Honeymania.

My favorite part of the packaging are only the sturdiness, the color & the honey bee in their QR code.

The scent if more in flowery than sweety side.
In my opinion, it's smell like fresh flowery honey. Not so sweet but has medium to full strenght.
On me, the scent last for about 2-3 hours before gone. If you've tried their EDT and think it doesn't last long or way too soft, you need to pair it with the body butter. Stronger & last longer :)

It's aimly for dry skin so no wonder that come in thick texture. Feels like butter but could be easily spread.
I have normal skin but it's too much on me, so i think it would also acceptable for oily skin.

So sad that it's Limited Edition (maybe it could repromote in future, TBS? please?) and as long as i know, it's been sold out in their indonesian web. Maybe some offline store still have some stock, so hurry up before it's really gone!

update June 1st 2014 :
So sorry my mistake, BA in The Body Shop confirmed that Honeymania is in Core Collection.. YAY!

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish, a Pleasure in Tube

I think the title has explained everything.

Well, i always love the idea of combining your shower gel with scrub (or polish, you name it). I remember when i was a teenager, in Indonesia we have a shower gel with scrub from brand "Seventeen" which work wonders and affordable, i always have a stock in my bathroom until it's discontinued.

I used to tried to move into dry body scrub (called lulur in indonesian) but i truthfully, i hate waiting it to dried and hate it more to scrub. My usual method is using it to my wet skin, and not waiting til it's dry. This method works, but very impractical.

The day when i decided to purchase TBS's Body Polish will never forgotten.

I want to purchase the full size product but it was out of stock. I have to be happy with this travel size one (75ml) and it's retailed for idr. 89,000.

There's the ingredient list (click for enlarge)

So they're using Walnut shell powder and Kiwi seed as the main polish and add Strawberry juice (which also contained of seeds). It's also has Honey that prevent skin from over drying and add extra sweet scent to the product.

The tube is just nice, like any other tubes. I just love to pictured every angle of it.

Doesn't it looks like a strawberry squeze?
It's smell like one too!

Again, the smell is amazing. If you're familiar to Body Shop's strawberry scent, it's even better because of the Honey. Very relaxing, comforting, pleasuring.. It's definately a LOVE.

And how about the cleaning side?
I haven't think that a shower gel could makes my skin very clean. I haven't found any dead skin after using my Strawberry body polish (unlike any other body scrub), even i never put too many pressure while using it. The scrub aren't harsh at all, even the big, black one.

Also because it's in gel form, it's easy to spread. I only need a small amount of product for everytime so i think it will last quite long.
My skin also loves it. It haven't makes my sensitive skin getting worse.

It's something that makes my day a day.
If only it's cheaper, i would be happier.. Tee-Hee!

Have you tried it? Do you loves it as i do? :)
