Review : Real Techniques Blush Brush

Let me introuduce you to my other very favorite brush :
REAL TECHNIQUES BLUSH BRUSH!

At first though, i don't think i would ever like it. Oh please, it has weird shape (too fluffy, looks like bunny's tail!) and too big. Really?

 Real Techniques Blush Brush
Currently unavailable in Indonesian Store. Online shop is your best bet to get it :)

Came in pink handle, means it supposed to be use in finishing step. The bottom is flat so it can stand by it's own. My only complain for it's appearance is rubbery bottom that's going to melt in several months. I don't know, maybe it's the weather or what, but mine is slightly melt just like Nars's packaging.
Considering the price, i think i need some back up. Well, in my opinion, Real Techniques isn't cheap (compared to local made brush) but it has good quality and still cheaper than Sigma.

back box
Uh-Oh.
I definately not agree with it. The shape and the size wouldn't work for contouring in my face. I usually use it as blush brush for ultra pigmented blush (think of the balm instains and sleek blush by 3) and for finishing powder (work amazing for Guerlain Meteorites Pearls).

The latest function i found through Paris B's Blog (the exact post is HERE). I was struggling to find a good brush for Guerlain but won't to spend a lot (Meteorites itself is a high investation) so this blush brush is a lovely answer!

the bunny tail ^_____^
Sure the size is big, but by using the brush slightly more flat, you can easily control blush movement while it help to blend the ultra-pigmented blush.

While using it as finishing powder brush, it's no brainer. Right amount picked and it feels so soft..

This brush is a staple in my make up land, in fact, i brought it while travelling and use for both blush and powder. Easy ~

If you have any suggestion for using this little bunny tail for another make up related function, let me know!

A Short Comparison Post : Real Technique & Ecotools Retractable Kabuki Brush

*both products are purchased by me*

After a post about Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush, i will continue with a short comparison with the one from Ecotools. Both share a same name : retractable kabuki brush.

There's the size comparison both brushes and my own hand.
Both are handy but RT is slightly heavier than Ecotools. It's understand-able since RT's is longer than Ecotools.

Ecotools using Aluminium cap, while RT using clear plastic cap.

Left : RT brush is 12 cm length
Right : Ecotools is 9.5cm length
both hairs are approximately 3.5cm length

Both handle are made from Aluminium. They also work in the exact same way.

As you could see, RT use 2 colored hair (mostly associated with stippling brush or Sigma's F series) but as far as i know (and correct me if i'm wrong), both black & white colored hair are synthetic.
Ecotools also use synthetic hair and it's slightly more dense than RT's.

I already owned Ecotools Retractable Kabuki Brush and find it's very handy. The one from Real Technique does a lovely job too.
Ecotools with it's usual dense & dome shaped hair works better for pressed & loose powder and powder foundation.
RT with angled brush could also work for blush & bronzer.
In my opinion, they're not a rival but a companion ^_____^
Now i carry both of them in my travel bag.. Maybe i should get a new, bronzey retractable kabuki brush from Ecotools hehehe..

ps. my ecotools retractable kabuki brush is the old version, so it's come in silver handle.
pps. i know my pictures in this post has different lightning, but it's un-important since it's only for tools not a swatch post :)

Thanks for reading :)

My First Impression for Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush

*purchased by me, non sponsored review*

Today i'm here for another tools review. After eyelash curler and wallet review, now it's for a make up brush.

I found it's very admirable to find a kabuki brush in my make up bag. Really helpful for a quick touch up while it's keep dust-free. The one that really helpful for me is Ecotools Retractable Kabuki Brush (which i haven't write about, yeah). I bought another one from Real Techniques for spare.

I believe you've heard about Real Techniques somewhere, but if it's not, i would make a quick explanation for you, dear friend :)
Real Techniques is designed by two well-known Youtube Guru, Nic and Samantha Chapman (both are from pixiwoo.com). RT brushes are made from synthetic bristle so they're cruelty-free. Most of their brushes are able to stand by it's own (but sometimes it's just hard) because they has a flat-bottom. They also make coded the brushes by color (
purple for eyes, orange for base and pink for finishing).

 According to realtechniques.com :

retractable kabuki brush

  • Go mobile with our new retractable design.
    • An essential on-the-go tool that evenly applies powders, bronzers or blush.
  • For perfect cheekbones:
    • Use with bronzer or highlighter to define and contour the hollows of the cheeks.
    • Use with blush to fill out the apples of the cheeks

Please keep remind that this is just my first impression of it. I only use it like 3-4 days and i won't judge it by that.

Hello there, this is the brush i talked in the whole beginning =)

It's PINK, means it's for finishing purpose.. Powder, Blush and Bronzer.

And that's how it looks like with the cap on.
The cap is clear-pink and made from plastic.

The name is printed on a side.
The brand is printed in another side (but unpictured).

If you're curious how this retractable thing work, hopefully my explanation could help :

After a condition in picture [1] aka cover picture aka how it's look like when you use it, now pull the pink metalic part under the brush head. And it would look like that in picture.
Yes the pink retractable part is printed with brand name, i found it cute.

Then with the metalic part pulled, put the closure on.

Last part, push them down.
Voila! It's closed already!

Last pict, it's how it looks like from above.

 ______________________________________________________________________________

I was tried it several times :
  • for my beloved Tarte Provocateur Mineral Pressed Powder (review here), it won't work. Hard to pick up and hard to blend. Maybe i need to try with another powder later.
  • for Too Faced Chocolate Soleil bronzer, works perfectly.
  • for Illamasqua powder blush (review here), hard to blend.

No judging here, but that's what happened to me in 3-4 days of trial.
I would continue using it though :)

My Heroine : Ecotools Bamboo Bronzer Brush

It's been a long time since i did a brush review ~

Actually, i'm going to be lazier to write a review. I guess it's because i spent too many times google-ing (is it even a word? haha) about beauty product : fotd, eotd, lotd, swatch, review .. and discuss it. My head is kinda full now >____<"

So let's makes my own review!

As you might know, i'm a blush junkie. Especially the pigmented one, because they have longer staying power and a little goes VERY long because you only need a few amount, right?

And you maybe know, most of the pigmented blushes are hard to blend. Sometimes stipping brush are not helping. What to use?

Let me introduce you to my beloved heroine : Ecotools Bamboo Bronzer Brush *^___^*

As long as i know, Ecotools using a synthetic hair brush. And the bristle is made from light weight wood.

If you found that mine is quite different with the one in market right now, it's because mine is the old version brush. The new version seem has fewer hair and different bristle color.

see how fluffy is this? ^____^

now to the proof ..

remember this blush swatch?
The top one, Instain Toile and the bottom one, Sleek Lace are ultra pigmented blush. They tend to leave stain on skin, and they're very hard to blend *____*

So this is what i'm doing for that type of blush : Swipe, Swipe and Swipe using ecotools bamboo bronzer brush!

can you see the result? very well blended!
but see what happened to Benefit Bella Bamba swatch (the middle one) which is not staining? they're all gone!

My beloved heroine works really well for ultra pigmented blush. But i will never suggest it to be use for soft blush.

For the price (i think i purchased it at 120,000 idr), it does a good job. As long as i remember, i didn't find any hair loss during the washes.

If you love a fluffy, well made brush, then get your hand for it.
It's worth every cents ^o^

Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge, a Review

Okaaay .. Here it is .. The famous brush cleaner : Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge (DDPS) !!

For me, beside of the effectiveness to clean my foundation brush (although the name is for puff and sponge, it can be use for brush too!), i adore it for the cheapie price. I bought it for RM 5 or idr 15,500 (assume 1 RM = 3,100 idr) and it contains of 80ml or approx. 2.8 oz.

DDPS come in handy bottle size. The instruction, description and ingredients written in English and Japanese.

now let me show you how DDPS do the job ..

Today's victim is Sigma F60 (foundation) from Mrs Bunny kit.
As you can see, it's used and covered with foundation's stain.

1. pour 2-3 drops of DDPS into a plastic bowl.
2-4. tap your brush into pure DDPS' solution, til all the part covered.
5. add some amount of water, make sure the solution won't reach brush' metal part (where the glue might stay), soak for 10-20 seconds then swirl your brush til all the stain removed. Sometimes you can add some help by your own finger, just make sure your finger(s) is clean.
6. brush seems cleaned already, and solution turn beige.

My F 60 is Clean!!!
*plok plok plok*

DDPS makes it sooo simple to do! With etude brush cleaner, i only have 2 choices : fight with stain or use 6-7 drops directly to my brush to make it clean. And Etude's is not cheap at all (oh but it work nice for powder brush, and natural-hair brush).

Now while i'm waiting it to dry, i put F60 in that position. So no water would reach the metal part. It will dry in safe way ..

PROs :
cheap
effective & efficient
handy
doesn't drying my brush
doesn't causing break out

CONs :
hard to find in Indonesia *sigh*
not recommended for natural-hair brush

the next time i find it, i'd stock some bottle for my future use! i promise!!

ps. now i'm selling some beauty stuff in my new blog : svs-beaute.blogspot.com, kindly visit and contact me if you're in indonesian region and want to buy something, hehehehe ..

Coastal Scents Bionic Flat Top Buffer

Finally, a post about brush!! yay!!

I love most of my face brushes, but this one is my most favorite ()

What is Flat top brush?
Flat top brush is a flat-shaped brush it could be use to apply cream or liquid product (esp. the thick ones), makes contour and buffing.

.. and i believe, this is one of the most affordable great flat top brush you could get (i bought mine for only idr 65.000 during CS's easter sale, it's 40% off).
Sadly, Coastal Scents has discontinued it, how could they????? (≧Д≦)ノ

Oh Well, i will still review it, for my own happiness.

it's 15 cm length, with black handle that makes it looks like sigma F80 *LoL

As most of flat top brushes, it has 2 hair color : creamy white & black

Soooo Fluffy!(*´▽`*)
i dont know why it seems like has an empty part in the centre, but in reality, it doesnt :)

What's so good in it?
the price
very soft hair, feels like i'm using my own finger
gives me a fawless look
handle & hair size are fit me
almost not shedding (only 2 sheets at the 1st time i wash it)

.. and there's some part i dont like about it :
it discontinued :(
it's hard to make it clean again (i use etude brush shower cleaner + 70% alcohol)
takes a whole day to dry

thanks a lot for reading (^▽^)
