Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask and Overnight Vitalizing Mask

I rarely use any mask this days, mostly because I’m too lazy for whole process. I hate to go washing my face just for back and wash my face again. But it turns that Sulwhasoo got a hype for their Clarifying and Overnight Vitalizing Mask which i think would be amazing for my skin condition. And by that, here’s my skin condition :
  • Occasional break out
  • Normal-oily on most part, but crazily dry on eyes area.
  • Acne scars (red mark, bumpy skin)
  • Redness
  • Large pores

I bought both product on sample size (largely available on ebay, amazon, tester korea, qoo10, Korean depart, etc) because at first, I’m not sure where I’m jump into and full size product would hurt my wallet badly.

Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask, 50 ml size (full size is 150 ml)
Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask 30 ml (full size is 120 ml)

Both are in plastic tube that really looks like full size product. While Overnight Vitalizing Mask 100% like full size tube, Clarifying Mask in sample size is a tad different. Make sure you get the original one.

What Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask claims to :
  • This unique honey-textured treatment is formulated with Solomonseal Powder to absorb impurities
  • Japanese Honeysuckle hydrates, smooths, and brightens
  • Powerful blend of Korean medicinal herbs exfoliates and purifies for a clearer complexion

What Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask claim to :
  • Walnut extract creates an essential moisture layer on the skin, promoting optimal absorption of nourishing ingredients
  • White mulberry extract minimizes redness and irritation
  • Hyaluronic Acid promotes long-term hydration, restoring and revitalizing skin overnight

The Beauty Wolf has stated that how her skin get much better with these two use in a row. Basically, you do double cleansing, put moisturizer, continued with Clarifying Mask, let it stay for 30 minutes then peel the mask off. After that, apply Overnight Vitalizing Mask. According to the website, both are meant to use at night time.

product fresh from tube

As I stated, Clarifying Mask is peel-off mask.
The one that you put in your face, let it dry and peel them off. I saw many girls successfully peel the whole piece all together, but it never happen to me. That’s still okay though, you get no score by that, ha! *sorry for my competitive self*

Before application, do your usual skincare basic with toner and moisturizer. Wait them to dry first, then continue. When applying, make sure you put lots enough. Too thin application makes it hard to peel but thicker application means more product to use. Told ya it’s not cheap, and using more doesn’t mean you’d get better result.

Like any other sulwhasoo products I’ve tried, it has Sulwhasoo’s trademark herbal scent. I love this scent, found it enjoyable and relaxing (I even think it smells like Satay sauce the first time). If you don’t like it, then it might bother you the whole time because it’s stay long.

The texture is much like thick Honey. It is thick and kinda fast drying. I suggest to apply it fast, using no more than 2 fingers because it would stick.

While peeling of, try to peel from your forehead, down to your jaw. It suppose to make sure it does picking your pores problem. As opposite, after cleaning up, massage your face downside up.

ready to peel..
peeled off
Result after application :
  • Right after application, my skin just feel okay. My pores seems kinda smaller and I’m paler by application stage. Nothing marvelous.
  • The next morning (whether using Overnight Treatment Mask after or another product, usually moisturizer) my skin seems GREAT. My pores sink, my skin seems brighter and my acne scar less, much less scary. The effect last 2-3 days.

Have I told you this product is my new holy grail? No? IT IS!

Overnight Vitalizing Mask, in the other hand, is a creamy sleeping mask.
The kind that you put after all skincare regime to seal, and left it for a whole night long. My tour guide in Korea told me it was invented for lazy Korean. But some said, it just another name for night cream. Whatever.

Normally, I’d use Overnight Vitalizing Mask with Clarifying Mask. I use it in several ways :
  • First, in eye area before Clarifying Mask, after toner, moisturizer and eye cream. So it’s like adding extra moisturizer to eye area. In other parts, I put it after peeling off my Clarifying Mask and left it til the next morning.
  • Second, in some confuse days, it added after Paula Choice 2% BHA Liquid (or Clear Regular/Strength Exfoliant, whichever you prefer to). I’d wait for 20-30 minutes til my BHA “works” then add Overnight Vitalizing Mask. Actually, I think it’s unnecessary in normal days, but in drier days, I prefer this way.

Please note that Overnight Vitalizing Mask is HEAVY. The cream took time to sink in, and feels heavy on skin *its heavy heavy on my normal-oily skin* and suggested to use only twice a week. It has Sulwhasoo’s trademark scent but less offensive than Clarifying Mask.

At first, I think it’s a cheaper option for my expensive Ginzeng Renewing Cream (haven’t write about that, sorry!) but hell, no. Ginzeng Renewing Cream is much better. It can be use anytime, any place, with better result and less allergic problem. My skin literally glowy and seems healthy with Ginseng Renewing Cream. Perhaps because it’s reNEWing while the other is VITALIZING.

Here I’m not doing Sulwhasoo’s suggested way of applying mask (which include some mandatory massage and a lot of circling) because my skin hate to be touch. It’s went angry red and itchy. I just applied it like moisturizer and that’s it.

Result after application :
Well moisturized. Better result achieved if used together with Clarifying Mask. No extra glow here, and pain in face if applied wrongly.

It’s not a holy grail, and I don’t think I’d ever repurchase til I missed it.

Do you have some suggestion for me, which other sulwhasoo does amazing job? I already tried Herbclinic too (not really great) and Harmonizen (burning my face) and their basic toner and moisturizer. Oh and First Treatment Essence too (good but not extra ordinary).

Thank you for reading, hope my post help you to decide ^___^

ps. if you need ingredient list, please go ahead to Sulwhasoo's official website. I am refering to us.sulwhasoo.com here because it's simple and done in English :)

pps. if you're wondering why i dont put Overnight Vitalizing Mask's result up there, because i can't wait whole night long with mask in my hand LOL. And no, no just wake up picture for blog. Thank you!

Nature Leaves Mask for All Skin Type

*WARNING, LONG POST. SUMMARY IS IN THE END*

Good Day, dear friends.
Today i'm going to introduce you to local Indonesian brand named Nature Leaves. I know nothing about this brand until their PR sent me email, introducing their brand and product. Now a little introduction on my blog, shall we?

What is Nature Leaves anyway?
It's a "Go Nature" brand who has visionary to make high quality home made product, with natural, organic ingredient and save for skin without chemical ingredient.

What Product do they have?
Unfortunately, they only have 2 powder mask as their main product. One is specialized for oily skin and the other one is all skin type. Being powder mask means they have to be mix with water first before use but also means that they need less chemical.
Both mask are Organic, risk free, using real essence, no fragrance, no paraben and processed through clean production (truthfully, sometimes i bit worry about homemade product but they're assure that they're keeping clean production). Because both are in powder form, it's impractical to use but it means it's using less chemical.

Oily Skin Type mask (basic ingredient : mud & tea tree) using pink label
Benefit : clean dead skin cell, help with oil control, brightening dull skin and hydrating
All skin Type mask (basic ingredient : green tea & honey) using blue label
Benefit : lifting skin, smoothening, anti oxidant, prevent spot and acne scar, hydrating

Okay, then where i could get it?
It's available in instagram @natureleaves_id and some reseller (could be check on their page) and sometimes in some offline event too. It’s retailed for IDR. 70,000.

nature leaves mask

Mine is the blue one, means it's for all skin type.

Their mask is packaged in tin can which impressed me. It's feels sturdy and pretty.
My second notice is on front label, the "Est since MMXIII". *EHM*. I tried to remember my greek study, but i could only read XIII means 13. I dont remember what M stand for. Okay since XIII is 13 i could guess the both M's means 2000. Est since 2013. Haha. I like their smart thought.

Each can contains of 50g of product and could be use one year after opened. This is what i like from powder mask, ha. However, it's just packaged like this. You need to make sure all powder are in bottom tin before open it. And it's kinda sad not having the whole ingredient list.

It does looks like green tea powder with leaves in my opinion haha.. The powder is not super finely milled (like i think it would be) and strongly scented. I know they're claimed to use no fragrance, but i wonder what smell so strong? Honey? I wish they give us ingredient list..

I was too being told that this mask help with allergic reaction. Well, another story for you (told ya, it’s a long post) :
I have allergic to seafood and egg. While seafood is easy to avoid, egg is not. My allergic is just developed few years ago. In the beginning, it's makes my hand swollen, itch, and red in several spot. Later, it's just swollen in hand but itchiness move to my face and neck. Totally disaster when you're outside, really.
But sorry, since my face shown no tangible allergic reaction, i can't show it to you. It's itch inside and redness shown just if i round them up (which i avoid).

My way to use this mask :
  1. Add an amount of powder you think enough for your face. Mine is about 2 coin size to cover entire face and jawline.
  2. Add water little by little until it's thin enough. Here i use drinking water simply because i don't trust tap water for mask. Otherwise, you can use warm water instead.
  3. Separate water and mask using your finger. Throw out excess water and put wet mask on your palm.
  4. Apply product that's left on your palm to your face. Yes, directly. Avoid eye area.
  5. Wait 15-20 minutes until it's fully dried
  6. Clean your face softly. DO NOT RUB, it's very harsh so wet your face and swipe GENTLY.

I have tried several methods but i think that way makes application less messy (with some other method, i need to take a bath right after masking) and once it dry, less product flying away or drop down. As for last step, i have sensitive skin and scrub is my enemy. I swipe it gently till all gone and wash with facial cleaner (most are not doing this, but i do).
masking (told ya it's hard to apply properly and it's messy!)
after mask, or actually, after bath

After mask, my face is bright and smooth. If i do masking at night, my face is still brighter by the morning. Usually i do masking before bath, it's just easier to clean the messiness.

As bonus, i have no allergic reaction on my face after second application. Another story, I was had to had fried rice with egg the next day (after using nature leaves mask) I was outside and a little bit worry that my face would itch and all. But strangely, it doesn’t! My hand still getting allergic reaction, but thankfully face area are safe. Until today, the second week i used this mask, i totally have no allergic reaction at face and jawline!! YAY!

But I haven’t tried it on my hand but someday I will. I totally recommend this mask for anyone with allergy!

PROs
Help me decreasing my allergy effect (HUGE POINT)
Doesn't break me out
Brightening effect
Anti oxidant properties (i really loves anti oxidant! talk about it later)
Claim to has clean production
No paraben, clean production, organic, real essence
Long shelf life
Less chemical
Supporting Indonesian Local Product

CONs
Messy
Too rough for my taste, I really wish it’s better milled.
A little bit in expensive side
Only available via online store (okay this one is not worthy saying, but some of you might found it as cons)
No ingredient list in product
I wish it has better packaging, maybe separated plastic cap inside?
Through claimed to use no fragrance, it’s scent lingering hours after use.
No ingredient list provided.

Even if Cons seems long way down towards Pro's, I will still giving it 4/5 star. Of course it's mainly because allergic calmer. I never know something like this before, thank you nature leaves!

*** Product was sent to me for review purpose. All review & opinion are mine.

Korean Haul Posted ~

Hi Readers!!

Long time no blogging eh? so sorryyy because i was soo busy last month, and i've been visited South Korea, the skincare heaven, for 6 days :D

i've stayed in Jeju island for 2 nights, 1 night in Seoraksan (Mt. Sorak), 2 nights in Seoul and 1 night in airplane >.<" hahaha ..

it was nice, but i dont have lots of time for shopping because i joined a group tour, and they're only shopping in Seoul.. between visiting some tourist place and others ~.~"

sooo what i've got in Seoul? only few items .. because i've found out the price in Korean beauty store are almost the same with price you got through pre-order system .. only about 20,000-30,000 idr more expensive than the price in korean store for small items. Liquid items get more margin yes, but still it's well worth!

First, it's about mask.I bought 3 mask from the Face Shop for a good price because i got a discount coupon. I think it's about 21,000 won for 3 masks ..
and the mask from tony moly was a free gift for entering TM's store in Myeongdong. I bought those party lover eye brow powder that time ^^

then from Etude Store.. It was the most crowded beauty store near there! almost every spot were taken @___@
i bought Etude BB dation special kit (not sure why.. but seems nice), bebe foot mask (since i think my foot need it), happy tea time cleansing cream in milk tea (smells good, good price and nice packaging) and sweet recipe baby choux base in Raspberry (I was wanting it for so long so i can't stop my hand from reaching it).. the pink pen and play etude box (contains of cotton pads) were free gift ^^,

from Skinfood Store.. only few product since they doesn't have Tea Tree Toner & Emulsion i'm looking for.. Skinfood store in Myeongdong is quite far from Etude and TM's .. I walked alone and kinda flustered, trying to find Skinfood ..
i bought an eyebrow trimmer, choco eyebrow powder cake (smells like chocolate! and works wonder!), and fresh cellery cleansing tissue.. and i got 2 sample :)

There's also a nice store there, named RedEye and they're selling woman's stuff.. Clothes, accesorries, bag, wallet and so much else.. i only have few time there, and only bought 2 pairs of earrings and a ring with a tree on top .. very pretty!
they're quite affordable too ~

aaannnddd .. just it!
doesn't much right? ~

but even i enjoyed my trip to south korea, i dont think i'd like to go back there.. because it's expensive!
south korea is the second most expensive country to visit in Asia (the first one is Japan, my tour leader said) .. a coffee machine selling coffee for about 400 won and the coffee in minimart is about 1,000 won (while in indonesia it's only about idr 5,000 aka the half price). Snack is about 1,000 to 3,000 won .. and food is about 5,000 won up .. LOL ..

dont get me wrong, you have to visit south korea someday.. they're worth to visit, but only once .. hehe ..

have a nice day! :)

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask : Cleaning Your Blackhead Without Pain

Hi Readers! ãƒ½(∀゜ )人( ゜∀)ノ

I don't know, i'm sooo lazy writing about product i usually use. I just want them to stay in their place so i can reach it whenever i want .. ~( ̄▽ ̄)ノ

One lovely product that i always use every week is Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask. I've finished my first tube, and when i want to open the second one, i was thought, this is the right time to take picture of it .. *lol.

Have you tried it? It's my favorite clay mask. This time, I have 2 clay mask : baviphat strawberry (de)toxifying mask and innisfree jeju volcanic pore clay mask. Yes, i'm such a mask lover!

Like another Innisfree product, Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask got 7-Free formulation: NO artificial perfumes, NO artificial pigments, NO paraben, NO benzophenone, NO ethanol, NO animal base materials, NO mineral oils.

These picture are taken from Innisfree's Website :
click to get the larger image, thank you :)

*These images are supposed to be together in one length page, but i separated them. I think they're still fine, but if you want to read in the original size, you can go directly to innisfree's website, i've put the link above.*

Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask are contains of Volcanic Ashes from Jeju Island in Korea, and enriched by Scoria and Green Complex. Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is recommended if you : concerned about your pores, blackheads and sebum, and also think that your make up are getting cakey and your skin is uneven and dull. Me and some friends has just found out that is mask also work well in drying acne. This is a must have things, so many function and so easy to use! It's also good for oily, normal and dry skin type because it doesn't tightening your skin so much, you'll enjoy it everytime you use it.

Innisfree also said that Volcanic Cluster is the only week base (whatever that is) resources which is similar to human's blood. This volcanic cluster can only be found in Jeju Island, Korea. It's a pure ingredients that contains no (almost no, i think) impurities.

Another things i loved from Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask is their packaging. Sooo simple, cute, easy to use and the best is soo natural. They use recycled paper for the box, tamra (jeju) paper for labelling and recyclable & low  carbon generating light-weightened containers. Yes, it's soo light weightened!

Well, this is mine :

This is the full size one. Came in 100ml size, in a light-weight jar.

The Seal

It's contains 300-mg of something i can't read. Maybe someone can help me? :)

Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask also has a plastic separator. Nice and help you to keep product from getting too much air.

Swatch on my hand.

I know it's so not important because it's a mask where color doesn't meant anything but, this is the product, the consistency and texture.
In my opinion, the texture is a quite creamy for a clay mask, makes it easy to spread (i'm not complaining). My nose almost undetect any smell from it, you'll only able to smell it if you put your nose directly in front of the jar. You can't smell anything while it's on your face.
It's won't drying your face except you leave small amount of product in open air and use it. Since it doesn't drying your face, it wouldn't crack like another clay mask, you can easily speak while wearing this, and it means even you have dry skin, you can still use it! So nice!

Ingredients (taken from Rachel's Website) :

Water, butilrengeulrayikol, titanium dioxide, silica, glycerin, Caprylic / CAP Rick triglycerides, trehalose, ash (Jeju volcanic clusters), seteahrilalkool, Rick cliff stability, seed, glycerol stearate, Lille, bentonite, zinc oxide, polysorbate 60, green tea extract, citrus peel extracts, fruit extracts saboten Western blossom extract, mineral water (Jeju volcanic groundwater), bamboo extract, samnamuipchuchulmul, cacao seed extract, polyvinyl alcohol, kaolin, The four two nucleotide hydro vegetable oil, dextrin, pibeuyipi, PEG -100 stearate, sorbitan stearate, selrulroohseugeom, xanthan gum, carbon tetra sodium pyro phosphate, disodyumyiditieyi, echilheksilgeulriserin, Phenoxyethanol, red iron oxide.

How-To-Use :

  1.  Wash your face using cleansing foam
  2. Use toner all over your face for better result
  3. Gently spread the clay mask over entire face (avoiding eyes & mouth) especially paying attention to blemished areas
  4. Wash off with warm water after 20-30 minutes, it wont tighten your face as i said above, so put attention with the time

Use it 1-2 times a week, could be use in blemished area only all over the night (don't use any other skincare, except toner, between your blemish and the clay mask.

Conclusion

i wouldn't say that this is an amazing clay mask that will always work everytime and for everytime. I'm failed about 20% from my total usage, sometimes it won't take my blackhead, sometimes it won't dry my acnes. And for my sister's face (who's rarely using skincare, any skincare, you name it) it won't work at 2 first time until it's done it's job.

But, it's so much better than another clay mask i have : it's able to clean my blackhead, help me to drying my acnes, reducing some of my redness, quite moisturizing and makes my face look brighter. Really-really clean my blackhead without any pain. What a life (☆▽☆)

Overall, i love it and will definately repurchase! ^^

p.s :  even if it's works on me and some of people around me, maybe it wont work for you. Another people trash could be your treasure but another people's treasure could be your trash.

Take Care and Thanks for Reading! :)
